Dear Friends of the Kolbe Center,
Pax Christi!
A blessed Feast of the Holy Archangels to all of you!
I am happy to report that Bishop Robert A. Vasa has given his blessing to a short catechism by Brother Charles A. Madden, O.F.M., Conv., on the doctrines derived from Genesis 1-11 as set forth by Fr. Victor Warkulwiz in his longer work
The Doctrines of Genesis 1-11. This
Genesis and Creation catechism will be available immediately in
print and
e-book editions and can provide an excellent tool for teaching these fundamental doctrines of the faith to Catholic young people.
Today, I had the privilege of attending the Holy Mass with one of my granddaughters on the (Roman Rite) Feast of the Holy Archangels. She wore a lovely dress and I felt moved to thank her for dressing so beautifully for Jesus and to assure her that she had made Him very happy. As I did so, I reflected that when I was my granddaughter's age there was virtually no "gender confusion." Over the years, various factors have contributed to this diabolical disorder, including massive doses of hormones dumped into our water supply from epidemic contraception. But there is no doubt that the abandonment of distinctive dress for men and women has played a major part in fostering this confusion.
Even in New York City where I grew up in the late 50's and early 60's, almost all women wore modest skirts or dresses. In these days of "diabolical disorientation," for a girl or a woman to wear a modest skirt or dress at all times is almost heroic, and yet it is a most God-honoring, commonsensical and charitable response to the gender confusion of our day. If you have not read our article
The Genesis of Modesty on the Kolbe website, I encourage you to do so. It received the
imprimatur of Bishop Cornelius ap Korir of the Diocese of Eldoret, Kenya, on the Feast of the Nativity of Our Lady. It demonstrates how much the Church's traditional teaching on modesty is derived from Genesis and how suicidal it has been to depart from that doctrine.
Dr. Thomas Seiler and I have been invited to Uganda and Kenya this fall to give seminars and to produce a play on the Ugandan Martyrs near the Ugandan Martyrs' Shrine in Namugongo. The play faithfully relates the history of the Ugandan martyrs, young men and teenage boys who preferred to lay down their lives rather than participate in the sexual immorality of the court where most of them served the Kabaka, or king, of Baganda. These young men embraced the Catholic Faith on the foundation of the true Catholic doctrine of creation, at the very time that many of the leaders of the European colonizing powers embraced the evolutionary pseudo-science of Darwin, Haeckel and their disciples, setting the stage for the first genocide of the twentieth century in Southwest Africa. Please pray that by the grace of God we and our Ugandan actors will produce a play that will inspire young people all over the world to embrace the Catholic Faith and to offer themselves with Jesus through the Immaculata as a pure offering to God.
After visiting Uganda and Kenya, Dr. Seiler and I will return to Europe around the 5th of November. If you would like to organize a Kolbe seminar anywhere in Europe between November 5 and 15, please let me know as soon as possible, so that we can plan accordingly. The Kolbe Center must provide all of the funding for our trips to Africa, so any contributions to that end will be greatly appreciated. Most of all, please keep the Kolbe Center in your prayers.
Yours in Christ through the Immaculata,
Hugh Owen
